This piece is called A.S.I.C.D.M.C. This is a charcoal and chalk pastel drawing of sophomore hall. To be quite honest, I’m not a fan of having to measure out every detail and depend on a ruler- so this project was a challenge for me. But challenges are good! Measuring all the lines and making sure the perspective was correct was the one thing i wasn’t going to let slide. The two subjects I wanted to emphasize were the brick wall and the man standing in the drawing. The movement of the painting is drawn to the wall being so drastically dark then the eye is drawn back to the hallway with the perspective. A small pop of color is what I wanted to carefully add without taking over the painting. The balance of the values contrast dramatically from the floor to the walls. When I was choosing the spot in the hallway, I liked in interesting perspective. I added the man with the incredibly noticeable sock tan line to the piece just for fun!
