I did the contour drawing of an object out of place with an enhanced focal point. I had the idea for this piece because I wanted to bring my irrational fear of deer to life. I have always wanted to try more hatching/line art type drawings and I can say I had a lot of fun with this! I have also really been drawn to contrasting colors lately. That's the reason for the blue ink and the red/pink washes. This piece is ink and watercolor. It’s a scarier theme but I believe the use of the color pallet and the small birds ( <3 ) really give it a playful feel- makes it a little more light hearted. The background gave me a little heart attack at first, but I believe the red enhances the piece- it emphasizes the birds more! I also am happy with the strokes of the brush that directs the audiences eye down; it naturally leads you to the subject matter. The deer itself is just my imagination, but the bird are out of place in this piece.
