This piece is called Come Back Home. Now, this piece I hold close to my heart. Not only because I worked incredibly long hours on it, but because of the story behind it. I depicted a story of a girl illuminated by a light. She is going to use the lighter to wish her way back home to the past. The butterflies represent the changes she has had to make in her life and the hardships that she's faced. The downward strokes of the 'rain' of the background adds to the sadness and the desperate feeling in the painting. The medium for this project was acrylic. I wanted to keep this project in the cool colors. I wanted to manipulate color to depict the feeling of coldness. But what I found interesting is that even the cold colors have a bit of comfort and inviting feeling to them. With advancing on with painting, I've definitely been trying to understand more 'realistic' styles. I am proud of the progress I've made in the past year
