The title of this piece is Stepping Stones. When I was picking out the subject matter, I wanted to choose items that were near and dear to my heart. The picture frame holds a picture of me with my grandparents when I was a wee tot. The stuffed animal giraffe was a gift from a very close friend of mine as a welcome home present. The rock was also a gift. It was a Christmas present from my brother! Texture and technique is one of my favorite elements when it comes to acrylic! I poured my blood, sweat, and tears into the picture frame. I used a gel medium to give the three-dimensional affect to the frame. The rock was entirely stippled. The giraffe was more fast strokes to give it the appearance of being fluffy! Since the three subjects are relating to childlike objects, I wanted to incorporate that into the rest of the painting. That is why there are tones of bright colors throughout the painting! There's a soft simplicity to being a child. When making this painting, it brought me back to a handful of memories.
