This final project was inspired by none other than the Love Yourself: Tear album by BTS. I'm simply titling these groups of pieces the Love Yourself Reminders. In each of the designs, they have lyrics from the songs on the album. What I love most about the designs is how the swirly lines in the middle connect the phrases. Those squiggly lines are also unraveled flowers designs from their previous album Love Yourself: Her. I do love how the prints all unified through the flowers. In the pocket design, I find it aesthetically appealing that the words keep going 'round, and 'round, and 'round! The movement of the piece keeps going even after you're done reading! The color in each of the designs was super fun to play with. I felt constrained almost by the color of the fabrics I had. I created tints rather than using bold darker colors that I'm drawn to with painting. While I don't enjoy line art, simply this piece was all line art. It's good to be pushed out of your comfort zone. These were all sketched out first by hand so making sure the weight of each line and the lettering in general was uniform was a challenge. Each of the lyrics is basically the most impactful message to me from the four songs. I chose to use lyrics from Fake Love, The Truth Untold, Magic Shop, and Outro: Tear. This album is taking a different perspective to love- not only relationships with someone else, but yourself as well. Self love is a topic I find crawling into my art rather quickly.
