This piece is my tribute to the manta ray teacher from Finding Nemo. This piece is titled simply, MR. RAY in his honor. For this piece, I was inspired by Sandra Ruberto on Youtube. Her painting style has the geometrical background embellished with flowers and different elements pertaining to the animal of the subject matter. I admired that style so I incorporated those styles into this linoleum print! I feel it was a very good choice because the triangle really grounds the whole piece, providing a good foundation for the whole picture. There are more geometrical shapes that I thought I drew but that's the beauty of shapes! They're everywhere and we don't even realize. Even though I made all the flora in the print freshwater plants, the manta ray is in fact a salt water animal. For the suite of three, I thought it would be sweet to keep the prints to their own colors. Stripes contrasting the polka dots and the bright colors surrounding the soft pastel.
